Abstract
The article substantiates the urgency of studying the problem of the formation of social maturity of youth in the socialization process in the armed forces of Russia. The author offers results of the empirical study of social maturity of conscripts; 140 examinees, young people aged 18–23 years (110 conscripts and 30 students of universities for the humanities) took part in this study. The author concludes that because of insufficient social maturity, a low level of spiritual-moral and civil culture, lack of experience of independent constructive solving many life problems many young people are “infected” by civil infantility and social nihilism, parasitical moods and lack of initiative that is directly and indirectly reflected in readiness of young generation for performance of the duties of a soldier for the defense of the Motherland.
