  • Why Use APA Style?

The Editorial Board of Russian Psychological Journal is pleased to provide its readers and authors with the APA Style Guidelines for Preparing Manuscripts for Journal Publication.

Why should Russian scholars and researches use APA style when preparing their submissions?

The use of APA style may promote indexing of Russian journals in the major international scientometric databases – Scopus and WoS. Russian academic journals should correspond to the form and content of the journals that are already indexed in Scopus and WoS to gain a foothold in these international scientometric databases.

Foreign scholars find it difficult to read and cite Russian articles, even if journals provide English versions of metadata. To work close with global scientific community Russian academic journals should provide English versions of the full-text articles and adhere to the basic principles of the writing format that are generally accepted.

APA Style provides a foundation for effective scholarly communication because it helps authors present their ideas in a clear, concise, and organized manner. Therefore, since 2019 Russian Psychological Journal requires that all manuscripts (both in Russian and English) comply with the APA style as the most commonly used formatting and style guide. For this purpose, the Editorial Board of Russian Psychological Journal provides training in the APA style for all the authors.
